I made a vision board for myself a little over a year ago. It's beautiful. And a good chunk of the things on it have happened. AMAZING right?! But a few of them are in the future goals, so, obviously those haven't happened yet.
I love my board I created, but, I also have some big plans for this year, so I want to create a vision board especially for 2018.
You can too.
I've had the opportunity to learn a lot about what makes a vision board most effective. So, I want to share some of that with you. Our brain is more powerful than we know. Basically, it has magical powers, and one of those can be accessed with vision boards. Our brain connects with things it sees. And then, it does everything it can to bring those things into your life.
Maybe you're wondering what a vision board is. Basically, it's a visual collection of things we want to bring into our life. It's like a prayer, in pictures. It's a collection of pictures that represent what you would like in your life, and, when combined with words or phrases, it becomes even more powerful.
STEP ONE: Write your goals down
Figure out a time line for your goals. Are they goals for this year? 3 months? Or, 5 years? You can do whatever you'd like!
Here are a few things to think about, when you're thinking about what to put on your board:
-If nothing was standing in your way, what would you do?
-What direction do you want your life to take?, how do you want to feel? Where do you want to go?
-Look at all aspects of your life. What do you want as far as career, family, health, relationship, travel...
STEP TWO: Collect your pictures
Find pictures that represent your goals and dreams. I got most of mine from magazines, but you can always find images you like on Pinterest or the internet too!
Try to find pictures that inspire you, and capture the vision you have for yourself.
If you can't find a picture to represent your goal, add words that do.
Even if you can find all the pictures you need, I would still add words.
STEP THREE: Assemble your board
So, I think there may be two trains of thought when to comes to the correct way to assemble your vision board. But, I heard that you should put what is most important to you in the top center of the board.
The first way is just to throw it all on the board. Arrange it anyway you like. That's what I did for my board this year, and I like it, but it also makes me think of a mood board, rather than a vision board. But I think it looks good. What do you think?
The other way is a little more organized. Divide your board into squares (3 x3, or 4 x4, or whatever fits on your board) and put an image, or words, in each square. The first board I ever made was organized in this manner.
STEP FOUR: Place your board somewhere where you will see it all the time
This is really important. You don't want to spend all this time crafting your board just to stick in somewhere where you won't ever see it. If you can put it in your bedroom, that would be ideal. But, if you have another spot in your house that you're frequently in, like an office, or maybe even your bathroom (haha), place it there.
STEP FIVE: STOP, LOOK, ENVISION
Alright, now that you've had your fun being crafty, here's where the magic happens. Everyday you need to look at your board, and spend a few minutes envisioning and imagining what it will be like when each goal is accomplished. How will it look? How will you feel? What will it smell or sound like?
And then, this is something new I learned, you need to be thankful for that happening. Be grateful for it as though it has already happened.
